Gerrard mentioned that Trent had already won everything there was to win with Liverpool, and with his best friend already playing for Real Madrid, it became a major reason for him to want to join and challenge himself at a new level. However, Gerrard admitted that when he puts on his “Liverpool hat,” he can’t help but question why Trent would leave Real Madrid for a club that’s already among the best in Europe and consistently winning major trophies.
